Future Care = Sensors + Big Data + Designed Care Expriences

Posted By Sam Basta, Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Some pretty profound thinking by Rajiv Mehta on the convergence of healthcare, information technology and design.  You can find an interesting article by Rajiv on the same topic at Interactions.  Rajiv already started a discussion with these links on the Healthcare Innovation by Design Linkedin group.  Would love to get a conversation going on this topic.

"More, better and different are ways of working with the problem in the foreground. Change requires working with the cause in the background." Re-framing is one way to do that.

I particularly like the shift from patient (who has to have something wrong) to participant (which allows for people seeking to regain their health and those who are taking care of themselves.

The problem is indeed complex. Part of the difficulty in addressing it is based in a simple model of one doctor/ one patient/ one set of records at a time. But doctors work with lots of patients and patients are increasingly working with multiple doctors and non-doctors such as CVS and their drugstore health clinics and sub-sets of relevant data rather than complete records.

Thanks
